Dental Bonding

A wide range of dental problems can be corrected with dental bonding. Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure that uses tooth-colored composites to repair chips or cracks, close gaps between your teeth, and rebuild the worn-down edges of teeth. It can also help to restore the color of your teeth and even lengthen a tooth that is shorter than those around it. For less invasive smile makeovers, composite materials can be applied directly and sculpted to the surfaces of teeth that are most visible when you smile.

Everyone deserves to feel confident when they smile. Cosmetic dentistry is the single most effective way to improve your smile if you are unhappy with the way your teeth look. Cosmetic dental bonding is one of the options we provide for our patients who are looking to feel happier about their smiles.

Long-Term Benefits of Dental Bonding

Tooth bonding is a popular cosmetic dentistry procedure that can provide a number of long-term benefits. By using a tooth-colored composite resin, bonding can improve the appearance of your smile by concealing various dental imperfections. In addition, bonding can also help to protect your teeth from further damage and decay.

How long does tooth bonding last?

Tooth bonding performed by a qualified dental professional can last for more than 10 years if your bonded teeth are properly maintained and cared for. The process of dental bonding is a relatively simple and straightforward procedure that can be completed in just one dental visit.

Dental Bonding Procedure

Before starting the tooth bonding procedure, your dentist will use a rubber dam to isolate your teeth to keep moisture from interfering with the treatment.

  • First, your dentist will apply a gentle phosphoric acid solution to the tooth’s surface. This prepares the surface of the natural tooth for adhesion.
  • After 15 seconds, the solution is removed, followed by the application of a liquid bonding agent.
  • The dentist will then apply a composite resin gradually over the natural surface of the tooth, which is shaped and sculpted to the desired appearance.
  • The layer of composite resin will be hardened with a powerful curing light. The previous and current steps will be repeated until the final shape of the tooth is achieved.
  • Once the final shape of the tooth is achieved, your dentist will create a smooth, sturdy finish. This ensures that the bonded resin won’t loosen or cause discomfort in the future.
