Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a tooth replacement that spans the space where one or more teeth are missing. It is anchored to sound teeth on either side of the gap and can replace one tooth, several teeth, or all of the teeth in a row.

Dental bridges can be made of metal, porcelain, or a combination of both material

Two most common types of dental bridges:

  • Fixed dental bridge: This type of dental bridge has artificial teeth attached to it and will not move around when you talk or chew. They are also called “fixed” bridges because they are fixed in place with cement and cannot be removed from the mouth once they have been set in place.
  •  Removable dental bridge: This type of dental bridge is held in place by clasps and can be removed for cleaning purposes, eating, etc.

Benefits of Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is typically more cost-effective than an implant and there’s less of a risk of the tooth decaying or breaking. It’s also considered as a better option for people who want to maintain their natural teeth, as it doesn’t require any kind of removal surgery.

In addition to their many benefits, dental bridges offer the following:

  • Provides support for the bite and helps to maintain jaw alignment.
  • Prevent shifting of remaining teeth.
  • Prevent bone loss around the area where there is no natural tooth.

Are dental bridges right for me?

A dental bridge can be a good option for people who want to continue to eat and speak without wearing dentures or getting implants. The cost of dental bridges varies depending on your location and what type you need.

Same-Day Dental Bridges

CEREC technology and computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) enables your dentist to create same-day dental bridges. In order to get an accurate picture of the tooth or teeth, your dentist will take a three-dimensional digital image. This digital scan will be used to make a three-dimensional digital model, a prototype of the desired prosthesis. The digital design will be sent to a machine programmed to create the prosthetic. Your dentist will then implant your customized prosthetic.
